Caragh Celtic 7
We travelled to Kilcullen today for our first away game of the season today and continued our winning start with another excellent team performance.
Kilcullen were quickest out of the blocks today though and opened the scoring in the first quarter. The lads responded to this setback well and equalised from a long range strike from Evan that was cleverly dummied by Daniel. Kilcullen again went ahead but again we responded almost straight away when Conor Cassidy found Cian with a good pass down the right and Cian crossed to find Daniel free at the back post to tap in to make it 2-2.
Caragh shortly afterwards went in front, a lead that we weren’t to lose, Daniel took a fine corner (once he got by the corner flag), that found the head of Daire – who for the second week in a row finished superbly with an excellent header to make it 3-2.
The second half saw the Caragh boys really take control of the game. Ross scored a good individual goal when showing excellent skill out on the wing to beat his man and finish with a shot that beat the keeper at the near post. Evan got his second of the day following a run from his own half and good finish to the bottom corner. Daniel popped up again to show his poachers instinct when applying the finishing touch after the keeper had saved another header from Daire. Mikey also popped up to score another today and could have easily had a hat-trick but for the heroics of the Kilcullen keeper. Conor McCall was really unlucky not to get on the score sheet with two shots that just went the wrong side of the post.
The Kilcullen keeper was their star man in this second half as he made a number of fine saves turning efforts from Cian, Mikey & Ross away. Cian tried so hard to get on the score sheet today but it just wasn’t to be for him but he put in a great performance while captaining his team today,
