Newbridge Town 3
Caragh Celtic 8
The Caragh lads visited Newbridge today and continued their impressive 2014 form.
It was a real game of two halves though with Caragh really struggling to find their best form in the first half when playing with the strong breeze in our favour – we came in to the half-time break level at 3-3. The second half was a completely different story though when playing against the breeze. The boys started to keep their team shape and pass the ball around and created chance after chance to run out comfortable 8-3 winners.
There were some great performances across the Caragh team today and a couple of candidates for goal of the season.
Noah was at the heart of everything good that Caragh did today. He opened the games scoring and then assisted for four of his team mates to score. The Newbridge defence will be delighted to see the back of him as his trickery on the ball and delivery from set plays had them at sixes and sevens. Keep it up Noah – great to see you trying all your tricks in the game.
Caragh’s second goal today was something very special. Noah floated a corner to the back post that looked like it had gone behind everyone, but Cian had other ideas, as he launched himself into the air to strike a spectacular overhead kick to the back of the net, that Messi would have been proud of.
Ross also had a day to be happy with as he struck his first hat-trick for the team. The first of which was a great individual goal. Ross picked up the ball just outside his own box on the left side and ran the length of the pitch before firing a shot from the edge of the area to the top corner of the Newbridge net.
Both Caolan and Daniel also popped up to get on the score sheet today with close range finishes from crosses from Noah.
The other Caragh goal came when a Newbridge player turned the ball into his own net.
Elsewhere on the pitch we had some good performances with Daire and Evan working really hard at the back to keep the Newbridge boys at bay during the second half.
