U9s Just Too Strong For Monasterevin

Caragh Celtic 4
Monasterevin 1

The Caragh U9s returned to winning ways with a comfortable home win against Monasterevin on Saturday morning.

Daniel Hamill opened the scoring for Caragh in the opening quarter.  Caragh couldn’t seem to find a way to stretch their lead despite dominating proceedings for the remainder of the first half.

Early in the third quarter Mikey Coffey did find that elusive second goal for Caragh.  The Caragh boys all began to think that they could get in on the scoring act at this stage and almost got punished for forgetting that there’s defensive jobs to do as well.

A long clearance from the Monasterevin keeper put their striker clear through on goals and his powerful shot looked destined to get them back into the game, but Conor McCall making his debut in goals for Caragh, had other ideas as he flew through the air to make the save of the match.  To rub salt into Monasterevin wounds Caragh went straight down the other end and extended their lead to 3 with another Mikey Coffey goal.

The final quarter played out with one goal for each team, Cian O’Reilly scoring for Caragh, to leave the score at the final whistle 4-1 to Caragh.

A good all round team performance from Caragh and a great response to the defeat from the previous week.
