U9 Majors Hit 8 Against Naas

Caragh Celtic 8
Naas AFC 4

This side, captained by Aaron Conway, were out to prove that they could pick themselves up after their near defeat to a 6 man Bush Celtic last week.

The match got off to a flying start with both teams doing their best to make the first impression but it was Caragh who got the first break through with a goal from Jack Arnold from a tremendous amount of great team play. Adam Fleming played a blinder in defence and even managed to create chances from the half way line with Josh Finan blocking the way of the Naas strikers and Niall Cramer setting up chance after chance that finally paid off with that Jack Arnold producing the first goal.

Captain Aaron Conway was making chances after chance in front of the Naas goal – Naas were being very generous with their goal kicks that handed Caragh with lots of opportunities and Caragh pounced on those chances every step of the way! Next it was the turn of Niall Cramer to pound home Caragh’s second goal from a well worked team move. The third goal for Caragh then from the boot of Jack Arnold, a long range shot from outside the box that sailed over the hands and head of the keeper, 3-0 to Caragh with Jack celebrating Sturridge style.

The fourth goal came from Niall following a magnificent through ball from the boot of the ever reliable, Luke Martin. Naas then responded two minutes later with a goal to make it 4-1. Ben Morrell showed great skill in defence playing out from the back to create some great scoring chances.

Aaron Conway then got the next goal from outside the box to make it 5-1 to the home side. Naas were next to score now make it 5-2. Adam Carbery in defence showed his usual reliable skills to keep the Naas lads at bay. He also created some amazing goal chances especially one from the Caragh goal line up to the Naas goal line to give Caragh another scoring chance.

The next goal from Caragh was almost from the boot of Ben Morrell as he turned and shot, but it wasn deflected out to the awaiting, Jack Arnold for an easy tap in, 6-2 now to Caragh. Adam Fleming showed great guts and determination in creating chance after chance in this battle. The efforts of the Fleming fireball paid off as he launched a shot at goal that was deflected and landed nicely for the awaiting Ben Morrell to make the score 7-2 to Caragh. Then another well taken corner for Caragh produced a fourth goal for Jack Arnold to take the score to 8-2 now.

However, all was not finished yet as Naas found renewed strength and depth in their play and showed this Caragh side that they were not finished yet! They produced another goal to make it 8-3 and then literally one minute later it was another goal to make it 8-4 to Caragh. Just as it looked as though it would now be an all Naas affair, Josh Finan, Ben Morrell and Adam Fleming took turns to have their shots at goal. There it ended, 8-4 the score to Caragh.
