U10s Taught A Tough Lesson By Naas

Caragh Celtic 1

Naas AFC 7

Caragh’s winning start to the league was brought to an end in clinical style today by a quality Naas AFC team. Our lads were left chasing shadows in the 1st quarter with the Naas lads playing some lovely passing football and showing a real hunger all over the pitch to win every battle.

Naas raced into a 4-0 lead by the end of the first quarter with some clinical finishing and always having players following up to get any rebounds that came their way, while the Caragh boys really struggled to find their best form.

We knew it was going to be a very long day when Naas continued their scoring spree in the second quarter to go into the half time break 7-0 up.

All we could ask the lads to do for the second half was try and restore some pride and they did that by gamely battling back at this Naas team.  While the game was over as a contest at half time it was great to see the lads trying so hard to get themselves back into the game.

Evan Gilmartin did manage to pull one back for us as a consolation in the 3rd quarter.  We created a host of other chances but any time we breached the Naas defence their keeper was in fine form and saved everything that came his way.

Cian was our man of the match today and set the example to everyone else on how to keep going no matter what the score is and his example was eventually followed by his team mates, with everyone giving a much better account of themselves in the second half.

A tough game for all the lads but hopefully all the players and coaches can learn some valuable lessons from this game.
