U10s Prem Win Away To Newbridge Town

Newbridge Town 3
Caragh Celtic 4

We travelled to Newbridge yesterday and returned to winning ways with a hard fought win in a seven goal thriller.

The first quarter opened with us owning the ball and it looked like we were going to have an easy day but our final pass and shooting let us down time and again. We finally did open the scoring when our very own “fox in the box” Daniel got on the end of a through ball from Ross and finished in style to top corner of the Newbridge net.

As the game went on though the Newbridge boys worked their way into the game and found themselves amazingly leading 2-1, scoring twice from their only to ventures into our box. This lead was short lived though as Cian got on the end of a corner from Noah to make it 2-2 with a fine header.

The second half saw the came continue in a really tight and competitive manner with both teams looking to get their noses in front. Newbridge though restored their lead when we gifted them possession coming out from the back and they punished us clinically to make it 3-2. Mikey then got on the end of a cross from Conor Cassidy to restore parity. Cian in goals in this quarter for us was fantastic making two superb saves when 1v1 to keep us in the game.

The final quarter finally saw us get our noses back in front when Ross finished from just inside the Newbridge box despite the best efforts of defenders and keeper to clear their lines. There was still lots of work to be done though to hold out for the win and that’s what was most pleasing with all the lads working extremely hard to keep Newbridge out. Conor McCall was called upon to make a super save while Daniel, Caolan and Noah defended to the death to see us hold out for a 4-3 win.
