U10s Lose Out To Edenderry In Scrappy Affair

Edenderry 5

Caragh Celtic 3

We travelled away to Edenderry for a match that is always a tough battle and this years visit was no different.

The game never really got flowing in any way with tough physical tackling and challenges the order of the day.  This game style resulted in the match being littered with lots of individual errors and very little football being played.

Edenderry opened the scoring initially but Caragh replied shortly afterward when Conor Cassidy applied the finishing touch from close range following good work from Evan.  Edenderry again went in front though following some slack defensive play from us.

We replied again to make it 2-2 when the Edenderry keeper failed to deal with a corner and with pressure coming from Evan the ball ended up in the net.

The second saw very little goalmouth action and very little football and no further goals.

The 3rd quarter saw Edenderry get there noses in front again when we failed to keep our team shape when defending a corner and left an Edenderry player completely free in our box to have an easy finish.

Mikey got us back on level terms in the final quarter when played in by Ross.  We tried to push on to get a winner but were up against a really tough defence and a solid goalkeeper who pulled off a fantastic save to deny Noah late on.

Then as is often the case as we pushed more players forward looking for a winner we were caught on the break with some route one style football from the home team.  Our game was up now and the home team got a fifth at the death to seal their win.

Perhaps not our best day at the office, but sometimes we learn more from games like this…….roll on next week.  Our lads only showed glimpses of the football they’ve been playing over the past few weeks and won’t have many days like this.
