Silence Is “Goalden” – As Caragh U9s Knock In 9!!

Caragh Celtic 9

Arlington AFC 2

The lads had a comfortable win today with Arlington on the receiving end of our continued recent good form. The players loved the novelty of the silent sideline and the idea that they were in charge of their game.

Mikey playing “centre-back” opened the scoring for Caragh following a strong run and finish.  Daniel made it two shortly after when he got on the end of a cross in the box and kept his cool under pressure to finish from close range.  Arlington pulled one back towards the end of the first quarter to leave it 2-1.

The second quarter was a close enough affair with Conor McCall making a number of fine saves for Caragh, before Caragh extended our lead further as Ross and Evan popped up with a goal apiece to make it 4-1 at half-time.

The 3rd quarter saw Caolan pop up with another goal for himself with a finish from close range following a goalmouth scramble.  Daniel in goals in this quarter kept a clean sheet and handled everything that came his way with ease.

The final quarter saw Caragh knock in another 4 even with Arlington having the benefit of an extra player.  Evan completed a hat-trick for himself, Ross got his second and Noah, who captained the team today on his birthday, capped off a fine second half performance with a goal for himself and another wonderful effort from a free kick that missed the top corner by inches.

Good performances right across the Caragh team and the lads did brilliantly today keeping themselves organised on the pitch and playing the game in a very competitive but sporting way – well done lads.

Caragh: Conor McCall, Conor Cassidy, Daire Gilmartin, Evan Gilmartin, Michael Coffey, Daniel Hamill, Noah Byrne(Capt.), Ross Ward, Cian O’Reilly, Caolan O’Toole
