Caragh U10s Bounce Back In Style Against Suncroft

Caragh Celtic 15

Suncroft AFC 2

Following the tough defeat against Naas last week Caragh had to travel to play Suncroft, a team that we’ve struggled against over the past couple of seasons.

The lads couldn’t have put on a better performance to help them forget about their previous outing.  Right from the kick off the Caragh lads played a really high tempo game that the Suncroft boys couldn’t live with.  Our passing and movement was fantastic in every area of the pitch – the passing drills in training seem to be paying off.

Goal scorers and highlights:-

Daniel (3), Cian (3), Ross (4), Evan(2), Caolan(2), Noah(1)

A couple of goals deserve special mention:

Ross’s second when he trapped the ball from a high pass in midfield and dribbled past a couple of Suncroft defenders before unleashing a shot from the edge of the area to the top corner was worthy of gracing any pitch.

Daniel then showed that his goalscoring expertise is far more than goalmouth tap-ins when he curled in a fantastic shot from the edge of the area and marked his turn as captain with a fine hat-trick.

Noah then in the second half stood over a free kick just inside his own half and amazingly found the top corner with an amazing strike from our little midfield dynamo.

Aside from the goals we had some excellent contributions from all the team.  Conor McCall showed that there’s a lot more to his game than just goalkeeping when playing outfield he never put a foot wrong for his team.  His name sake Conor Cassidy did everything bar score – showing some excellent dribbling skills and providing assists for a couple of his team mates goals.  Caolan defended excellently as usual and then when the pressure was off popped up with a couple of goals of his own.  Evan, Dara & Cian gave their usual consistent performances for the team.

What was most pleasing about the performance was the way we played when the opposition had two extra players on the pitch – our lads worked really hard to win the ball back and then maintained possession really well and continued to make opportunities to score.
