Two evenly matched teams started out this morning in Kilcock. Caragh having won 3 out of 3 matches and Kilcock winning 3 out of 4. With two of our players missing today we started with a different line up than usual. Daniel Courtney was in goals for Caragh in the first half. Ten minutes into the game David MacPartlin came on. Alex Swift passed the ball to David who took an ambitious shot from outside the box that rattled the corner of the post and went in, David was in top form today, five minutes later he was on the receiving end of a pass from Eoin Heavey-Sharpe and once again David sent the ball thundering into the bottom corner, leaving the Kilcock keeper with no chance. The lads were now on form with Alex Swift getting through 3 Kilcock players to slide the ball past the Kilcock keeper. Kilcock came back strong with some shots on goal but Daniel Courtney managed to save them. Kilcock got the better of us putting the score 3-1, not to be deterred by this goal Kyle Martin made a run and passed to Darragh Hill who netted the ball for Caragh putting us 4-1 at half time. Missing some defenders this week put strain on the back line, but Cormac O’Neil and Jack Taaffe remained solid and put in some great tackles. Cormac worked exceptionally hard today and Man of the match was nearly certain to go his way. Ten minutes in to the second half Kilcock got what can only be described as a lucky goal, when Ben scrambled to save the ball only to be just over the line. The lads regained composure putting pressure on Kilcock for the remaining time with Daniel Courtney, Alex Swift and Kyle Martin having several shots on goal. Sean Merrigan had some great passes. The game finished with a 4-2 win for Caragh.
